Frequently Asked Questions

Campaign Basics

1. What is the Employee Giving Program?

The Company recognizes the importance of charitable organizations and wishes to promote good will in the Company and the community. In support of this, the Company will match all full-time, regular employees up to $1,000 per calendar year to any approved charitable organization. The $1,000 can consist of matching gifts, matching volunteer time, or a combination of both.

We have teamed-up with America’s Charities to provide employees greater flexibility in deciding which charities to support throughout the year.

2. Who is America’s Charities?

America’s Charities, a nonprofit that inspires employees and organizations to support causes they care about, is our employee giving partner, acting as the funds management agent, as well as providing general campaign support and distributing employee contributions to the charities selected by employees during the campaign.

Our Employee Giving Program site will remain open for credit card donations throughout the year.

Ways to Give

7. How do I find charities to support?

Click "Give" and select your payment type. You will then see nonprofits featured or, you may select "Find a Charity" to search for nonprofits by name, federation, or location.

If there's a nonprofit you want to support that isn't currently listed in the site, you can request to have it added by selecting "Write-In" from the last page of the Charity Directory. You will be prompted to fill in the necessary information about your request.   After you submit your nonprofit request, your request will be processed within five - seven business days.

8. What payment methods are accepted?

One-time Credit Card Donation: Your gift will be charged to your credit card and processed immediately (1-2 business days by your credit card provider). To cancel a pledge made via credit card, you must contact your credit card provider.

Recurring Credit Card Donation: You may give by credit card in monthly or quarterly installments. Your gift will be charged to your credit card and processed beginning on the date of your choice (1-2 business days by your credit card provider), and the amount you pledged will recur as you specified during the pledge process. To cancel a pledge made via credit card, you must contact your credit card provider.

9. How do I cancel a donation?

To cancel pledges made by credit card, contact your credit card provider.

10. Can I volunteer?

Yes.

The Company recognizes that many employees regularly volunteer their time to charitable organizations and wants to reward these efforts. The Company will match $25 per volunteer hour. A minimum of 10 hours of volunteer time must be completed at a single charitable organization before the match will be generated. All volunteer time donations must be submitted through the America’s Charities giving tool via the Volunteer Time Form in order to generate the Company match. Employees can donate to any charity of their choice, provided it follows the matching criteria.

Volunteer Time Matching Criteria:

  • The charitable organization must hold a 501(c) 3 designation from the IRS in order to qualify for a match.
  • LGIMA sponsored volunteer events during working hours will not be eligible.
  • Volunteer Day hours are not eligible to be matched.
  • Match requests must be submitted within 6 months of the date of donation payment.
  • Donations for benefit events, raffle tickets, fundraisers, or other efforts that may involve some value returned to the donor are ineligible to be matched

11. Are my contributions tax deductible?

Yes, your credit card and payroll contributions are 100 percent deductible.

12. How much of my contribution will be donated to the charity(ies) I choose?

LGIMA funds the administrative costs and therefore 100% of your contribution goes to the charity.

Affordability

13. What if I can’t afford to give enough to make a difference?

Thousands of employees across the country feel the same, but the majority of giving in the U.S. (approximately 72%) is a result of generous individuals like you.   If 100 employees across the country each donate $10 per pay period (26 pay periods), that equates to as much as $26,000 in nonprofit support that your gift helps make possible.

No gift is too small. Each gift goes a long way to help many organizations and the community. A $10 contribution each pay period can pay for a grocery delivery organization to provide food to a homebound senior biweekly for fifteen months, often at a critical time such as during illness or recovery from an injury. For $25 per pay period, one nonprofit listed in the campaign is able to provide the basic furnishings a formerly homeless family needs to move from a transitional shelter to permanent housing. In some cases, this means children in the family may have their own beds for the first time. So even small amounts add up, along with others from your co-workers and the broader community.
